PhD Student Life
I am a PhD student navigating the challenging yet rewarding journey of doctoral research while balancing my passion for health equity and community transformation. As a faith-driven servant leader, I’m deeply committed to making a difference in the world through scholarship, service, and social change.

Being in the throes of academia has been a transformative experience—one that has tested my resilience, sharpened my critical thinking, and strengthened my commitment to dismantling systemic inequities. As I pursue my research, I am constantly reminded of the importance of persistence, faith, and the unwavering support of the community around me. My doctoral work centers on addressing health disparities, food and medical deserts, and transportation barriers, with a focus on advancing equitable and thriving communities.

Though the path of a PhD student is often solitary and demanding, it’s also one of immense growth and opportunity. The balancing act of managing research, coursework, and personal commitments has reinforced my belief in the power of transformational leadership. I aim to bring scholarly insights into real-world solutions, guided by public policy and frameworks like the Blue Zones initiative, to create environments where wellness, justice, and opportunity can flourish.

Through my platform, Leading for Change: Faith in Action, I share the ups and downs of this journey—offering insights from my own experience as a doctoral student and providing encouragement for others navigating similar paths. My mission is to inspire those in academia and beyond to lead with faith, courage, and purpose, driving positive change in their communities and disciplines.
